Guided tours on the Augustenborg Botanical Roof Garden
and in the EcoCity Augustenborg
Augustenborg is a very interesting housing area in Malmö, Sweden, where a unique regeneration process has taken place to adapt the neighbourhood to a sustainable future. The full tour will show you the Botanical Roof Garden; the only green roof demonstration and research site of its kind in the world. There you will learn of the benefits and construction of green roofs, and see some conventional and some very innovative solar power systems. The tour then continues to show the open stormwater system - a new approach to sustainable urban water management - a large scale experiment, which turned out very well. You will see approaches to energy saving and local production of renewable energy - quite surprising, sometimes! Recycling and waste management and green architecture are other features you will see. The social aspects, and listening to the wishes of the tennants played an overall important role in this project.
The normal tour takes about 1½-2 hours. Shorter or longer tours can be arranged according to the wishes of your group. A good size group is up to 20 people. Larger groups will be divided between two guides. Tours are given in Swedish, Danish or English. Call us or mail us to book a tour and for information on prices, any time of year:
